HistoryArcimboldo’s was set up in June 1993 by three friends passionate about food. It very soon gained a reputation for quality and consequently won several “delicatessen of the year” awards, and recommendations from food writers such as Juliet Green. Today, Arcimboldo’s is owned and operated by Rosemary Brassington, one of the founding partners.
The NameOur shop’s name is taken from the 16th century Italian painter Guiseppe Arcimboldo, famous for his lavish collages of fruit, vegetables, meat, fish, birds and flowers arranged into fantastical portraits. Arcimboldo painted for Ferdinand I of Habsburg in Vienna, and later, for Maximilian II and his son Rudolf II in Prague.
